Friday Faves

Oh, Friday...

  • I have some faves for you. :)

(1, 2, 3, 4)

1) This is the perfect print! I found it on Pinterest (which led me to Tumblr). I take naps because when I wake up, the world is a better place. It just helps, especially when you're able to wake up naturally. (No alarm clocks)

2) Andrew Belle is possibly one of the best singers I have ever heard. The lyrics are so sweet, and the sound is just really relaxing. I've also been listening to really old songs like Rockin' Robin and Good Mornin'.

3) Waffles are the key to a yummy breakfast. Add blueberries, and you're set. I love the shape of these. Too cute!

4) Polka dots are very popular this season, and thank goodness! Personally, I've always liked polka dots. These pants are fantastic! It helps that they're from Anthro. :)

  • By the way, I did yoga this morning!
I've been trying to start, but it's strangely difficult to find the time for things that are actually good for you.
Nevertheless, my semi-health kick has begun. (I can't completely avoid cake with all of these birthdays coming up!)

Here's to a lovely Friday, and a fantastic weekend. :)

Danielle

Yoga vid

This looks perfect for tomorrow morning. Somehow, both energizing and relaxing at the same time!

Oh, a little update here, a little update there.

Hey there :)

  • So lately I've been researching super fruits and the effects they have on your body. Probably the most beneficial one is Noni. It helps your skin, hair, weight loss, etc. I'm starting to think it can do almost anything! (I have yet to try it though, and am therefore not liable for any ineffective properties of it.) ;)

Anyway, just a little info on my latest strange obsession.

  • Spring break is coming up for me! I know it's a bit late compared to other schools, but the fact that I don't have homework for next week or the week after that makes up for it.

I am so excited for the beach! I plan to go at least once during break. Otherwise, I'll have to resort to tanning by the pool.

I also plan to sleep. Very much.

  • Reggae music has caught my interest.
I heard it today from my friend, Paul, and have been hooked on it since. Rebelution is quite good. :)

  • I'm going to prom!

I'm so glad! I have yet to find the perfect dress, but this is an idea.
I know it's simple, but with the right accessories, it could be perfect!
If I don't find a similar dress, I'll probably ask a family member if they can make it for me. It's gonna be so fun!!

  • Again, so excited for the beach...

  • By the way, I am so interested in this kind of art!

So cool.

  • Well, that's pretty much it. Just an update for you darling readers. :)

unfortunately, I'm not sure where I got the other photos, but they aren't mine!

More photos from a lovely weekend!

I told you there were some photos missin' from the batch. :)

You'll never know what you find at the farmers' market! (or how cute they'll look on Hannah!)

The kids had a blast at the mini water park!

The nippy weather did have an effect, though! But how cute does Caleb look wrapped up in a towel?

Thank you, Aunt Becky, for having such wonderful kids!

Long anticipated post! (for me, that is)

Hello, there. :)

Long has it been since I last laid eyes on this page intended for the inspirational creation of wild tales of adventure!

Translation: I know it's been a while since I've blogged, but I wasn't able to get online for most things until I was caught up on French class. Ah, c'est la vie! ;)

*Please note: there are some photos missing from the group below, but of course I included the ones I have!

  • First of all, I went to Aunt Becky's house on Thursday night and stayed there all through Saturday. We had breakfast for dinner and s'mores. (My aunt's the best.) I even got to wake up on the couch to little kids whispering about me.

It was awesome.

Somehow, I managed to fit all of the necessary items for three days into three carriers: my every day bag, a shoebox, and an RL duffle bag.

It was quite the (much needed) change from the usual smallish suitcase.

  • S'mores!

I don't think there was one kid that ate his/her s'more the normal way. The most popular method was deconstruction, although Joey preferred to keep his intact and somehow eat only the marshmallow.

  • Saturday night was a birthday party at Disney! My friend used one of the Bay Lake Tower's hotel rooms for the party. We went swimming, ate pizza and cake, and played phone tag. I must say, it was one of the best birthday parties I have ever been to.

Happy birthday, Delanie!

  • On Sunday I played croquet with my family. Very proper, right?

Wrong.

There is no end to the silliness that goes on during croquet with my family.

  • We also had pizza on Sunday and fed some leftovers to the ducks near our house. They're very 'friendly' ducks. They love to get really close. So they can bite your ankles. Fun times!

  • Monday was fairly ordinary. There were no incidents, but also no exciting happenings. Mostly I did homework and pinned all day. Oh, and I happened upon this sight when I woke up that morning! The way that light comes through my window blinds can be so flippin' cool sometimes.

  • Today was slightly above average. Probably because I love my school. Also because people texted me today more than usual. (you know that temporary illusion of popularity? yeah, I experienced that.)

Why yes, we do drink tea in monogrammed cups and have ice cream in Latin class. :)

  • It may have helped a little bit that I got my J.Crew catalogue today.

Okay fine, I'm totally obsessed with J.Crew. (What do you mean, "It was obvious?")

Well, that concludes this post.

I promise that I will try my hardest to blog more often than I have been. Life is for sharing, right?

Danielle

A little update

Hey there :)

So just a little update of what I'm loving this week:

First, my painting! (you never know what you'll find on a walk around your neighborhood.)

The frame could use a touch-up, I'll admit. Other than that, it's in very good shape. I love the fantasy element of it (Narnia: Prince Caspian and Peter Pan mixed together). Fortunately enough, it goes quite well with my beach theme!

Also, I recently received my first Madewell catalogue! I can't believe I've never ordered one before. The anticipation between ordering and getting it was maddening.

Oh, and I also got the best bag in the world from WetSeal. It's the perfect Spring/Summer bag. I can't wait to bring it to the beach!

And obviously, I threw my shoes into the mix!

(that's my mom's Liz Claiborne jacket hanging over the back of the chair. I often borrow it for its versatility.)

And of course, a picture of me, for vanity's sake.

Have a lovely Monday/Tuesday!

xoxo,
Danielle

Make-up post/ Friday Faves

I know, I know!

You're mad because I haven't blogged. All week.
Believe me, I am also going through blogger withdrawal. Unfortunately, it happens to be very difficult to develop a compilation of acceptable photos from other peoples' memory cards. (You know who you are. -- cue menacing stare.)

But I'll get them eventually. :)

Regardless, I couldn't just skip an entire week of blogging!

So starting with the weekend... (DN '12!)

Oh my goodness! I had the best time at Disciple Now. Honestly, I had no idea how fun a church event could be. I could go on and on, but let's just skip to the pictures.

(Although I must say: the people I met and caught up with at DN were probably some of the best people I have met in a very long time.)

(Left to right in back: Ciera, Rachel B., me, Stephanie, Hayley, Rachel S., Lori
Left to right in front: Dahlia, Kaitlyn, Abby)

Below: Jesse(our student pastor) and Donna Dumaine(assistant to the student pastor and general church staff and body). They, along with the rest of our very cool leaders, dressed up as gangsters for the first night, in accordance with the Revolution theme.

(Note: above pictures were taken by various people)

Later on (Sunday):

I went to the Myrauns after DN! Every time I visit them, whatever joy I left behind comes back and finds me.

*Pictures will be uploaded ASAP.* I myself am waiting on them impatiently. (Aunt Becky has them... *ahem*)

Monday:

Thankfully, my super-cool-you-wish-you-attended school gave us Monday off. :)

Mom, my sisters, and I got pedicures! Magic Nails Salon and Day Spa is the best place for pedicures I have ever been to.

The rest of the day was spent mostly watching Seinfeld and catching up on much-needed rest.

Tuesday:

Tuesday it was school as usual. Isn't it just the worst when you have to even think about school the day after a wonderful break?

Fortunately, some students had the bright idea of playing basketball during lunch. Some people should really play for our team. (They're quite good.)

The last picture is my favorite.

Wednesday:

Wednesday I went to life group. We watched the seniors' videos from the DN scavenger hunt. They were so very funny! Someone ended up chewing the earth worm. (Biting down wasn't required.)

Thursday:

Thursday was pretty average. Oh, except that after math class we practiced baseball with Paul and then I went out and got shoes. :) (by the way, Paul throws a mean knuckle ball.)

*Pictures of school will be up soon.*

Also, on a side note: my alarm clock has been on my floor for a very long time. It somehow fell behind my dresser and landed exactly like this when I tried to hit the snooze button a while ago. I haven't moved it because that would mean unplugging it and going through the tedious process of resetting the time. Why bother?

By the way, check out this recipe! I have a very strong desire to make it when the weather gets warmer.

(courtesy of Lemon Fire Brigade)

Grapefruit Pomegranate Champagne Sorbet
Makes 1 quart

2 1/2 cup grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed, strained, no pulp
1/2 cup pomegranate juice, freshly squeezed, strained
1/2 cup sugar + 2 tb
1/2 cup champagne, quality does not matter
2 tb lemon juice freshly squeezed

Squeeze grapefruits, strain for pulp, and reserve liquid.
Place a fine mesh sieve strainer over an appropriately sized bowl. Place the pomegranate seeds in the strainer and crush them of their juices, just until there’s not a drop remaining. Discard or save pulp and seeds. Reserve juice.
In a medium-sized sauce pot, combine 1 cup of grapefruit juice with the sugar and heat until completely dissolved. Remove from heat, and add the remaining juices and champagne. Refrigerate until thoroughly cool.
Add mixture to ice cream maker, freeze and churn for 20-25 minutes, just until sorbet comes together.
Transfer mixture into desired serving container and freeze for at least 6 hours.

By the way (again), this is practically the key to positivity!

Good philosophy, eh?

Friday Faves!

It's been so long...

(1234)

1) This print is so cute. :) I love the song it's based off of! I would hang this in my room if I could.

2) I want this swimsuit! Lately I've been very drawn to green, and this suit would compliment my sandals perfectly.

3) Mac & cheese is not just for kids. I would eat it all day, every day if I had the patience to sit there and wait for the pasta to boil.

4) Did you know that Pandora has comedy stations? I only recently discovered this, and have been listening to Brian Regan, Jim Gaffigan, and... (drumroll) Jerry Seinfeld! (He's my favorite) ;) I've also been listening to the various albums of Maroon 5.

Well, that concludes this post.

Yes, it's a bit disorganized and haphazard, but I posted! :) This can now go down in history as the longest post on my blog.

Stay tuned for pictures!

xoxo,
Danielle

P.S., my friend Kaitlyn (pictured above in DN pics) has started a blog! As soon as I get the link, I'll post it. :)

Friday faves

Happy Friday! :)

Jumping right into my faves...

(1234)

1) Chobani yogurt is the perfect snack. I have yet to try all of the flavors, but out of the three-pack that I got, strawberry is probably my favorite. I enjoy watching the yogurt take on color as I stir the fruit in. :) It takes a few spoonfuls to get used to the taste, I'll admit, but after a week... I'm in love!

2) I adore this print! It was a battle between the above and this cute print, both by the same seller. This one won because it has everything that most people (me included!) need more of. Just imagining the result is both relaxing and exciting at the same time!

3) How darling are these shoes?? I love polka dots and was very pleased to learn that not only do these shoes include the pattern, but they're also from Madewell! (yes, I'm obsessed with J.Crew and anything associated.) Bonus: they would go wonderfully with my school uniform!

4) This indie rock band, Arcade Fire, is actually pretty great. I was skeptical when I listened to them the first time, but their sound has really grown on me. Don't ask me to explain the lyrics or the album cover, because I can't. I'm very into most of the songs, though! What pushed me to listen to it at all? Probably the fact that one of the band's t-shirts was featured in The Office, and it's a known favorite of this adorable blog's author.

Quick note: I will be at a church function (DN '12) from tonight until Sunday morning. Translation: weekend posts may be scarce, but I'll try to post later on Sunday if possible!

Have a fantastic weekend!

xoxo,
Danielle

School Day

It's Thursday! (almost Friday)

Today was fairly pleasant.

I went to school...

(me and Alexis on a break from psychology class)

...and I got new shoes!

After that, I just went around the house snapping pictures.

I'm not even sure how I took the last two. I must have let the exposure go for a really long time! Whatever it was, I love the effect.

Have a lovely Thursday evening!

xoxo,
Danielle

P.S., some people have been a little in the dark about 'following' on Blogger. I'm totally fine with everyone just viewing my blog (I love it!), but if you'd like to follow me 'officially'...

Create an account (there's a link on the right column --->)
Then, you can easily hit the follow button at the very tippy-top of my page to be added to my list of members.

Thank you, I appreciate every read! :)

Average day

It has been a long week so far of homework and coral lipstick.

I've been listening to Arcade Fire lately, and I'm kinda liking it. I think it took me a while to get used to their sound, but now it's almost all I listen to!

I'm really craving a small town. I know 'craving' sounds strange when applied to anything other than food, but I'm dying to go spend a day in a little town with cute shops and a farmer's market. In fact, I would love to go to downtown Winter Garden in the near future.

I'll be sure to update y'all if anything exciting happens! :)

Hope you had a lovely Wednesday!

Danielle

Over the weekend...

It's Monday!

Nothing eventful has happened today... yet. ;)

The weekend was awesome, though!

Aimee and I went out Saturday night to the Cheesecake Factory. (and then shopping)

Aimee got Hershey's Chocolate Bar, and I got Kahlua Chocoa Coffee cheesecake. I don't think any dessert could be better. It helps that they fill whatever space is left with whipped cream. :)

Sunday was pretty good, too. Although I think I spent more time online than not.
Mostly, I watched shows like Seinfeld. If you haven't watched this show, you so should!

Did you know there's a Superman somewhere in every episode?

Anyway, have a wonderful Monday!

xoxo,
Danielle

P.S., congratulations to Naomi Davis on her baby boy! :)

3/03/2012

Happy early birthday!

Caleb's party was today! :)

Duck cake! Caleb ate half the head. It was so good! Confetti cake is, in my opinion, the best kind next to chocolate.

C was so preoccupied with Mom's cup of water that Aunt Becky had to open his presents for him! Babies are distracted by anything, really.

Happy birthday, one year old. (in 3 days, that is)

Love you, CayCay.

Happy weekend!

xoxo,
Danielle

Update/Friday Faves

So first of all, I got my driver's license today!

This picture is definitely better than my permit picture. I'm very happy with it!

My dad videoed my test, so I'll post it if I can get my hands on it.

Friday Faves!

(1234)

1) Puff pancake! I tried to make one the other day with a different recipe and it didn't turn out too well, but I think I'll make another one tomorrow. They look so good!!

2) Etsy prints are the best! I have found dozens that I would gladly frame and hang. This one is almost too perfect.

3) I've been listening to Regina Spektor a lot lately. Two Birds is my favorite track! (I've also been listening to Soko's I'll Never Love You More.)

4) This dress looks perfect for the weekend! I love the dresses you can throw on, knowing it will go with anything.

Have a lovely weekend! I'll try to post something tomorrow. (birthday party!)

xoxo,
Danielle
